:CBT Aberdeenshire is a confidential service that offers private therapy for adults on an individual basis. Clients are seen for treatment at my private office at home . Clients are offered an initial consultation which can last up 90 mins. CBT is a collaborative approach and following the initial assessment an agreed number of sessions will be decided upon. The number of sessions will depend on the type and severity of the problem. Usually the number of sessions offered will be between 6 and 12 but sometimes more is required. Initially sessions are weekly but can be spaced out towards the end of treatment as the client becomes more skilled at working on their own problems. The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) provide evidence based guidance on the treatment of ill health and recommends CBT to be particularly effective in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders and Depression. CBT is also known to be helpful in a wide range of psychological problems such as:
PTSD ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) Health Anxiety Phobias Some Eating Disorders (ie Binge Eating Disorder and Bulimia Nervosa ) OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) Panic Disorder Anger Management Social Anxiety Low Self Esteem Relationship Difficulties Work Related Stress.
CBT is the main modality in which I work in as I have found this to be most effective approach in dealing with a wide range of mental health difficulties. I also have skills in Mindfulness Based Therapy, Compassionate Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy interventions, Trauma Based Therapy and Motivational Interviewing Techniques all which come under the umbrella of CBT. CBT can be used in conjunction with medication for example in the treatment of Depression or it can be used on its own to treat certain problems. CBT is known to have a longer lasting effect that medication alone often lacks.
