:CBT Aberdeenshire is a confidential service that provides private therapy for adults on an individual basis. Clients can be seen for face to face appointments at my private office in Udny Green, Aberdeenshire. I also offer remote video therapy sessions. Clients are offered an initial consultation which can lasts up to 60 mins. C.B.T is a collaborative approach and following the initial assessment an agreed number of sessions will be decided upon. The number of sessions will depend on the type and severity of the problem. Usually the number of sessions offered will be between 6 and 12 but sometimes more is required. Initially sessions are weekly but can be spaced out towards the end of treatment as the client becomes more skilled at working on their own problems. The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) provide evidence based guidance on the treatment of ill health and recommends C.B.T to be particularly effective in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders and Depression. C.B.T is also known to be helpful in a wide range of psychological problems such as:
PTSD ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) Health Anxiety Phobias Some Eating Disorders (ie Binge Eating Disorder and Bulimia Nervosa ) OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) Panic Disorder Anger Management Social Anxiety Low Self Esteem Relationship Difficulties Work Related Stress.
C.B.T is the main modality in which I work in as I have found this to be most effective approach in dealing with a wide range of mental health problems and emotional difficulties. I also have skills in counselling, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Compassionate Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy interventions, Trauma Based Therapy and Motivational Interviewing Techniques all which come under the umbrella of C.B.T. C.B.T can be used in conjunction with medication for example in the treatment of Depression or it can be used on its own to treat certain problems. C.B.T is known to have a longer lasting effect as clients develop skills and coping strategies that they can then use again in the future to address similar problems.
